The Ultimate Throwback: 8 Songs for #EventProfs

What better way to honor throwback Thursday - than with one of MeetingPlay's Thursday Playlists devoted to all the songs of times past - that help us prepare for awesome, successful future events?

There is none - we know! Thus just like that - MeetingPlay's #ThursdayHits is back with these 8 throwback jams:

    1. The Who - I Can See For Miles

Wouldn't it be great if every event professional could see for miles (into the future!) and predict anything that could go wrong with an event? Ah! Well, alas even if it can't be (though MeetingPlay's mobile event apps do feature real time analytics & reporting!), at least we can dream with The Who.

     Sing along:

I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles

And miles and miles and miles and miles

    2. Culture Club - Karma Chameleon

While it was suggested by a fellow MeetingPlay employee (as were most of these delightful jams🎵))to share another Culture Club song, we couldn't bring ourselves to justify it for the event professionals we love - or their ears. So instead, we present - the 🦎jam.

    Sing along:
    Ev'ry day is like survival.
You're my lover, not my rival.
(Events are our love, after all!)

    3. Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance

One of MeetingPlay's developers recommended this song, saying "You can wear pants if you want to!"

    Sing along:
    It's the safety dance
    Well it's the safety dance
    Oh it's the safety dance

    4. Rusted Root - Send Me On My Way

From everyone's favorite Dahl book converted to a movie - Maltida - and a reminder that if event professionals look and work hard enough, they too can create magical events.

    Sing along:

Well pick me up with golden hand I may see you,

I may tell you to run (on my way, on my way)

You know what they say about the young

    5. Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere

Could any playlist curated for event professionals be complete without a Talking Heads song? We think not! And this beauty is just the jam for #eventprofs - and this cover, a great listen!

    Sing along:
Would you like to come along
You can help me sing the song
We're on the road to nowhere
    Baby, it's all right

    6. The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh)

Ironically, this came from one of MeetingPlay's youngest - an intern! But what event professional doesn't hope that after every event, they can sleep in the jungle (aka their own comfy bed knowing your event was an absolute success😴😴😴...)

    Sing along:

    A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
    A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh

    7. Elton John - Crocodile Rock

Another intern suggestion that came far before their time, (but we think they were just bitter to hear Kermit got fired) and thus came one of their very favorite events of all time - Elton John performing with the Muppets.

    Sing along:

Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking

When your feet just can't keep still

I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will

    8. The B-52's - Love Shack

We're just going to assume that when another developer at MeetingPlay suggested this song, they were referencing the large cargo van and that event planning and mobile event app developing is more fun with other awesome professionals around to help and support.

    Sing along:

I got me a Chrysler, it seats about 20

So hurry up and bring your jukebox money

    Loveshack!

These 8 songs aren't promised that your events will be as successful as if you had used MeetingPlay for your mobile event app company - but they will at least keep you awake during long night stretches (because you can't get them out of your head!).

    Enjoy the magic! ✨
