    MeetingPlay's #EventProfs: Meet Spencer

Each Friday on the MeetingPlay blog, we highlight a member of MeetingPlay's amazing, hardworking team. We put a name to one of the many event professionals that come together to help develop, create, and support what becomes the mobile event apps and event technology success from MeetingPlay. From developers, to sales and operations, to account managers and more - each and every mobile event app that MeetingPlay develops has a multitude of hard and dedicated talent behind it!

This week, we are featuring MeetingPlay's Spencer B. Spencer is one of Meetingplay's amazing UI/UX Unicorn and lead front end developer. Meet Spencer:

Slack for iOS Upload (1) (1).jpg1. What was your first job – tell us about it.

My first job was at a small Dairy Queen in Godfrey, IL. You'd think it was an easy gig since my parents owned it, although I'd have to say it was anything but that. They worked me hard and had expectations for me that they didn't set for other employees. I worked on the grill and would hate having my car smell like a cheeseburger / deep fryer on my drives home, although I'd have to say getting Free food from the family owned restaurant made it all worth it.

    2. Who has influenced you most in your professional path/career?

No one person in particular. I find a lot of inspiration from a number of css blogs / design resources. To name a few I'll often browse https://css-tricks.com/http://www.csszengarden.com/ and http://www.cssdsgn.com/

    3. What's your favorite part about working in the event technology industry?

I enjoy the fast pace of the industry, there's never a dull moment when I walk through the office doors in the morning. There is always something to do and there's always ways to improve your craft.

    4. Looking back, what career advice would you tell your 18-year-old self?

Just some advice in general: keep an open mind and try to not be an a**hole.

    5. What's your favorite thing to do when you're not working?

I picked up skateboarding recently! After taking about a 10 year break from it I'm finding it's much harder to do at 27 than it is at 18. Other than that, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend Nicole and playing video games on my PC.

Obvisouly, despite his insistant rail sitting (that always frieghtens our COO), Spencer is pretty much a rockstar - both as part of MeetingPlay's team, and outside the doors of development and design. We're grateful that he has not yet fallen off any railings and to have his talent as part of the MeetingPlay team!

MeetingPlay is expanding, and we want to add you to the team! Want to learn more about the most engaging mobile event app and join the team?
