MeetingPlay #EventProfs: Meet Eve S.
Each Friday, we shine the spotlight on MeetingPlay's very own team of talent. We showcase the handwork that helps develop, code, design, and work with event professionals every step of the way. Each face is a representative of the hard work and dedication that goes into creating, executing, selling, developing, marketing and everything else that is required to make successful mobile event apps and engaging events.
This week we are featuring MeetingPlay's Senior Strategic Account Executive, Eve S. Meet Eve:
1. What was your first job? Tell us about it:
My first job was as a party host at Chuck E Cheese’s when I was just 14 (even back then I was involved in events J)! My duties included working to make sure scheduled birthday parties ran smoothly—submitting food orders, serving pizza, cutting the birthday cake—and yes, even wearing the Chuck E Cheese mouse costume.
2. Who has influenced you most in your professional path/career?
Wow, this is a really hard question. I have so many people who have influenced my professional career but I think the main person would be my mom. She was a single mom so growing up I watched her go through many struggles. Despite those struggles she always worked hard and, in turn, came out on top. She could have given up many times but she persisted. She was able to balance her work life and grow her career while also growing her family. My previous co-workers (and now my MeetingPlay coworkers) have also influenced my path. Being in the event industry can be stressful but that also means you work to support your co-workers and become close friends.
3. What's your favorite part about working in the event technology (or events) industry?
As I answered in my previous question, I think my favorite part of the event industry is the comradery you develop with the people you are working with. I also love the fact that I am able to be involved from the start of the project or event until completion. Seeing the final event come together is a really great feeling, especially when you know you had a hand in it. The event technology industry is growing so quickly and it can only get bigger and better!
4. Looking back, what career advice would you tell your 18-year-old self?
That everything will work out in the end and you will end up where you are supposed to. Also, to not be so hard on myself (although I still am to this day).
5. What's your favorite thing to do when you're not working?
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, my 7-year-old step-daughter, my almost 3-year-old son and our 3 dogs and 1 cat (yes, this keeps me busy, too). We love everything from just hanging out at home to going to the beach or going fishing. I also enjoy fashion and run a side business selling clothing. Many weekends you can find me putting together clothing and accessories and snapping pics!
Welcome to the team, Eve! We're excited to have you, your talents, and your many 4 legged friends - on board!
